The Imbarimba Xylophone outdoor musical instrument has a unique musical design combining elements of two classic African instruments: the Marimba (a resonated xylophone) and the Kalimba (thumb piano). The bars are arranged in the layout of the Kalimba with long bars in the middle and short bars on the ends, allowing both hands equal access to the upper and lower notes. The instrument is pentatonic, this makes playing effortless. The notes of the Pentatonic scale all harmonise with one another, so there are no discordant notes - ideal for a musical playtime!
Part of the key to the Imbarimba's rich sound is its resonators. These tubes are situated directly below each bar and the length varies according to the frequency that the bar produces. Vibrations from the bars resonate as they pass through the tubes, which amplify the tone in a manner very similar to the way in which the body of a guitar or cello would.
The instrument can be wall mounted or set on a sturdy stand. The notes are entirely weatherproof and able to withstand the wear and tear of children at play. The Imbarimba is pitched one octave above the Amadinda - together they make the perfect musical partnership.
I love it so much
