Halloween pumpkin carving is great fun and so is making a jack-o-lantern in Photoshop. In this halloween special Gavin Hoey walks you through the technique how to use layer styles to create the carved effect and how to use layers to add texture and a new background.

  • Very nice, were did you get the picture of the pumpkin, I can't seem to find one with a black background?

  • @ShevoMusic97 It's my own photo... just took a snap of our pumpkin before it got carved up for real :-)

  • Whitch photoshop do you use? Is it CS4 of CS5? Also, how did you mirror the mouth selection?

  • @scubadog2000 I'm using Photoshop CS5 abut you can do this in CS2, CS3 & CS4. I only mirrored the eye, the mouth was hand drawn :-)
