Edimax ES-3108P 8 Port Ethernet Switch.
A Switch is basically like a Router, except its an expansion to your router, which gives you more ports and it also balances out the data, so you dont lose data the more the people connect.

  • @CharlysWay you can do that but you might want to console or login to your router with the wireless and set it up so that it only runs as an access point ... you never wnat more than one router per LAN espesically in home environments.. do that if you can or know someone who can .. if not my suggestion is buy a cheap wireless access point on ebya or somethign adn plug that into your wired router with the built in dsl modem...

  • @EkkilsoyLAN yes that would work... basically your LAN wouldnt have a WAN (wide area network) connection... so you want to set up a peer to peer network

  • can u use this as a offline router, basically setup an offline network and use this as the center?

  • QUESTION??? Can I hookup a dsl modem/router with a router in a daisy chain and get wireless from the last router??? because I cannot connect the last router directly to my dsl line cause I need a dsl modem. Can I buy that dsl moden in USA and use it in south america ?? Will that modem work there ?? Please Help with ideas.

  • i have 2 pc's and where do i connect my 2 ethernet cables? on the switch right?sorry i dont have knowledge of this hope for your reply

  • @dscimi121 yes but i think you can only use one at a time

  • so is there a certain port that the ethernet cable from the router to the switch box goes into because i have gotten confused looking at it because theres no dedicated port for internet supply

  • Can you get internet acces by connecting ethernet cables to the remaining router ports?

Also is it allways this simple? I mean you just connect the switch to one of the ports on your router and you simply get more ports that can connect to the internet?
