'Fun without any redeeming factor is sordid.' - I like that. Always felt the same way. Modern game industry is mostly focused on fun (because it sells).

@TerrorBlack Yes, hypnosis, good example. I just read an article about that state of the brain when one is in hypnosis. It's that wide-eyed look. They show examples of a woman being hypnotized and how her eye-state changes from one mode to the other.

Everyone gets in the zone when instincts are required. Tennis players, baseball players, sprinters, quarterbacks, running backs, etc. This is a REFLEX. You do not consciously perform reflexive motions and you are most likely "in the zone" when you are performing consecutive reflexive actions!

@ryazbeck Driving is another common situation in which this effect occurs. I believe it's literally a form of hypnosis; hence the phrase "highway hypnosis".

Why aren't there more intelligent discussions like this out in the open?!?! If these were more common we wouldn't have the problems they talk about. I guess someone has to be bold enough to live up to these ideas...that will not be easy.
I'm gonna go buy every book that I can find of Crawford's.
