This is a little video I made of my Jack Russell Terrier, Penny and my German Shepherd, Max.
Being that Penny is a terrier, toys are not hard to come by. The squeaky ones she likes best, but they are "dead" (cease to squeak) after about 2 minutes, and she will leave the squeakless toy to rot and me with an empty pocket book. So we found some inexpensive things she loves to play with like empty water bottles, containers (in this case, an empty, plastic, peanut container), anything that will slide around and make some kind of noise. She also "kills" these and they have to be disposed of promptly. She is a terrier and will obsess in an instant! She is NEVER left unsupervised with any of these items.

take a 20oz pop bottle and cut little holes in it and put some dog food inside. It lasts for hours of fun for them.

At that moment in time, Penny would refuse a million dollars in favour of that plastic container. That's why I love dogs.
