The Territorial Army's Summer Challenge was held by 51 (Scottish) Brigade from July 1st until August 20th 2006.
It provided a unique opportunity for 238 recruits to experience adventure, outdoor pursuits, leadership skills and rewarding personal development.
Taking part in Summer Challenge was also a great way to start a part-time career in the Territorial Army as it encompassed the basic training programme that TA recruits undertake within the 7 week period.
During Summer Challenge, three locations were used: Inverness/Dingwall for military training, Aviemore for adventure training and Glenrothes for driving training.
The 238 participants were split into 5 platoons: Juno, Gold, Sword, Omaha and Utah.
At the end of the seven weeks, participants were fitter and had learned adventure sports, fieldcraft, map reading, first aid, shooting and many were able to gain their driving licence.
