This is 100% correct! I found out about the fSI download over a year ago, and downlaoded everything. This original FSI govt. course used to cost hundreds of dollars, but the govt. figured they'd give it away free in .pdf and .mp3 format, since it is dated. If you can finish this course, like Spanish, you wil be at minimum upper advanced - fluent in speaking. I do however recommend that you will catch on faster having some previous basic level lessons before starting FSI. But, it's FREE!!!!!!

Thanks for this good and useful warning! True indeed! The one commercial FSI course I know of that is OK is "Platiquemos", I bought that one because it was revised a lot. I'm half way now (unit 28) and although the sound quality isn't always that good, it's the best course I know, works great for me. Too bad the owner of that version has past away :( But I think they still sell it, although I don't know if that version is the same, I guess/hope so. Some info on Platiquemos: watch?v=TbQ7RPHma4A
