Belfast Pride 2011

30th July 2011 Belfast hosted Pride 2011 - the event was supported by thousands of people from the city and beyond and was a fantastic sucess.

I am proud to be hetrosexual so why dont i feel the need to round up all other hetrosexuals and walk through the streets screaming about my sexuality?? The fact is gays/lesbos and whatever those other freaks want call themselves constantly preach about acceptance, equality etc.. but in truth that is the last thing they want, the would rather run around screaming from the rootops and rubbing their perverse lifestyle in the faces of people who dont want to know about it!!

@uobcv I'm old enough to remember the days when you could be locked up for your sexual orientation and being gay was a criminal act. Pride is the opposite of shame and that is what the parade is ll about. Its about celebrating difference and its wonderful to see Belfast supporting it so fully. One day there will no longer be a need for Pride, as being gay will be fully accepted. Remember 1 in 10 is gay and this has always been the case as far as anyone can tell.

@DreamTeamAudio So why preach about 'acceptance, equality' & being treated like everyone else' then go to such lenghts to 'celebrate difference'? This parade is mostly attended by students wanting to offend etc.. and the display of freaks just sends out the message that homosexuality is miles apart from normal life. In reality if most people are honest, they are disgusted by homosexulaity, but probably dont give it a secound thought, but this parade just reminds them why it disgusts them!

@uobcv Why celebrate difference it's quite simple - Our diversity is our strength. Equality and diversity are not opposites. Life is much more interesting because we have different genders, ages, races, sexual orientations or football teams for that matter (roll on Saturday). Many people don't approve of gay relationships or as you say find it disgusting, but many people are disgusted at talking about straight sex (my granny).

As my son would say homophobia is so gay!

@uobcv you forget the real reason as to why us Lesbians/gays etc have the need to show face - because there are too many straight hetrosexual people such as yourselves who are so homophobic they can't let us be who we truely are in this varied and colourful world!

@bbbfire Interesting how u made an assumption when u stated 'your faith' & 'your bible'. You dont seem to grasp the reality that religion aside, the majority of people are sickened by homosexuality. My friends & most people i work with etc.. consider it disgusting. This is the reality. But they are happy to ignore it so why ram it down their throats? Dressing up like fraks & screaming about your perverse lifestyle wont make people accept it as normal.

@bbbfire Actually the poster said 'Jesus was a fag'. And when did i ram my faith down anyone's throat? I dont have a faith! The issue i have is - What exaclty is the need for this parade? We are constanlty told that gays are just like everyoen else and a normal part of society, well then why do they need to parade through the streets screaming about it? Some people tell me this parade is to 'celebrate diversity'. Well then im interested to know if u would also support a 'White Pride' parade??

@uobcv those offensive posters were in reply to offensive posters help by " christain protesters" and was also in reply to there offensive language and of those posters only one was offensive the one saying jesus had two dads is right going by your bible god was jesus dad and joseph raised jesus as his own and ram in down your throats like you ram your faith down everyones plus those posters were held by two people who dont refelct on the rest of us

@bbbfire Do u think walking through the streets screaming and purposly trying wind people up.. will somehow make u 'free from hate'? This parade is designed to wind people up - Just look at the offensive posters about Jesus etc.. The vast majority of people i know are sickened by the very idea of homosexuality but we accept that what people do in their own company is their own bussines, but this parade is designed to ram it down people's throats, nothing more nothing less. And that is wots sad!
