Elizabeth Young, Director of the Troy Downtown Collaborative (TDC) and in the video, announced this morning the TDC is in the running for a $250,000 Pepsi Refresh Everything grant.

If the TDC were awarded the grant they would make investments in the following areas:

• A business development plan to bring at least 10 new businesses Downtown in a year, either owned by a local college grad or specifically catering to the needs of our student population.
• A support system, business plan assistance and training, collaborative advertising and reduced price commercial rents, to ensure the long term success of new entrepreneurs.
• Streetscape improvements, including kiosks, improved directional signage and security equipment.
• Creation of special events and marketing collateral specifically designed to attract thousands of students to downtown to patronize our small businesses, doubling the local client base.

There are several ways to vote. The simplest way is to text "105518" to PEPSI (73774); applicable messaging rates apply.

Another way is to visit www.facebook.com/pepsi and click on the "Refresh Everything" tab to install the application, which will allow you to vote from your profile. Finally, you can visit www.refresheverything.com/downtowntroy, sign up, and vote right on the website.

The Troy Downtown Collaborative is a group of citizen activists formed to cultivate the economic growth and development of the downtown Troy community by creating an increasingly inviting, dynamic and sustainable environment that celebrates the city's history while building towards its future.
