  • How does one keep the metal from conducting heat during the hot summer months?

  • the isolation make all the difference, the metal is like wood

  • erm, what?

  • not really - but we do have extensive experience in dealing with "out of the box" design & technology in construction.

we are building the first earthship in FL right now - a 100% off grid home. We literally amended the building code for the entire state to pull permits. We are also doing a zero energy conversion on a historic building using experimental techs from around the world.

  • daniele hamamdjian? wtf? is this canada or the middle east?

  • @davehutchinson67 is that a 40 foot container?

here in denmark I've seen nice looking 20 footers for little over 1k$

  • @DanFrederiksen in Baltimore...I can get reefer containers for about 2k a piece..in decent condition...I'm in a port city..so it's a bit easier here...so with buildout....even with land...I think I can get it done for about 50k.

  • @davehutchinson67 no I'm not kidding. unless you want it to look like a stack of containers it takes a lot and with a lot of restrictions.

    what do used containers cost?

  • @DanFrederiksen are you kidding? You can get a decent size container house for about 40k. these are a little ridiculous...you can do it very inexpensively.

  • thinking outside the box... COME ON! : )

the only real merit I see to this type of construction is that it can be strong enough to take a cataclysmic tsunami and float if built right. otherwise I'm not sure that much is saved if anything

  • Love this idea, who can I contact for more information and prices?

  • @idekithome Isolation = isolement. You mean insulation.

  • @idekithome Insulation not isloation
