Julie talks about the Rotosound Super Bronze strings that she has been using for over twenty years, and plays the guitar tune The Cat And The Butterfly, a title inspired by her murderous moggy, who spends summer lurking under bushes and pouncing on butterflies.
The tune grew from a version of See That Girl Sitting On The Fence, reputed to be based on an old Rev Gary Davis riff, along with another tune with an unknown title. Over years of playing, and experimentation on the themes, ideas from the tunes gradually merged together and morphed into a separate piece of music.
Great playing and sound, i'll give the strings a try on my acoustic....
Thanks
Rob

After viewing this video, I ordered a set of these strings in 11-52 & put them on my Guild F-40. They're rich, responsive and produce deep bass. I could probably go down to the 10-50 set that Julie uses and still get enough volume from my guitar. Thanks fror the demo.

wow that piano winding on there realy sounds like a great idea. I've got arthritis and weaknes in my hands too so need low action and light strings. I'm definately going to try these, thanks for posting this!

It's a pity they seem to have stopped making them in 13-56 gauge. I was looking forward to making up a 13-56 custom set to use on my 12 string.

Great fun! I used to use Country Golds with the piano winding. Got a guitar from some ex-Lowden guys in Ireland, strung with Rotosound (IBTC Ltd). No weight stated. Beginning to like it a lot. Put 12-54 Wyres on - and suddenly, not such a nice guitar at all. My Lowden S35C short scale also isn't so nice. Not fluid, too hard. Been playing 12-53/4s for years, or Wyres PB set (13-56 with lite middles). So went hunting for extra light Rotosounds and found this. Now convinced!
