  • Are you speaking of the BEEP BEEP BEEP sound? Or the 3-tone chimes after that? That's a CLASSIC sound, and it reminds me of when I used to take the metro as a child.

  • the BEEP BEEP BEEP door chime just before (or while) they're closing. Not the take off Doo-Doo-Doo power choppers sound.

  • Everyone loves that delicious sound when the metro takes off, It's so sweet and soothing.

    Also: FUCK YOU ALL

  • I'm from São Paulo/Brazil and I spent 2 weeks of january/08 in Montreal. The city is wonderful and I specially remember of this take-off sound...

    Thx for the video!

  • I don't have a great regard for French engineering, but I admit I'm amazed how the 50 year old design still holds. It does at all look so old.

  • The first three notes of the piece "Fanfare for the Common Man" are coincidentally the same as the sound made by motors of the MR-73 class of cars on the Montreal Métro as they leave the station and accelerate.

  • Montreal is the best city to live in.. i love it... i also live here in Montreal and speakin of Montreal the weather is soo retarded here..

  • Love that take off sound

I miss metro since I drive car now, I rarely get in there :(

  • the take off sound is coincidentally, the same first three notes of the fanfare for the common man

  • I love that take-off sound too! I have a cover album of Beau Dommage, and the first song on it starts with a recording of the Métro. It says "Prochaine Station, Beaubien" then it does the take off chime.

  • Well, You can always come back, Montreal is still there.

Did you use to live here or were you here on vacation?

  • I took the Metro everyday for about 11 years, and I think he's talking about the BEEP BEEP BEEP sound that they use at both end of the line before it leaves the station. I always took it for "hurry up and get in, we're closing the doors and leaving". At the St-Michel station when you hear that sound you have more time to get on the train than at the Longueuil-Berri UQUAM line. Over there they sound barely before they close the doors.
