hey my male chases my female (both jd"s) around the tank unrelentlessly and she jus rests at the top of the tank im thinking of getting a black convict 2 but im worried he will jus join in with the bullying is there anything i can do and all fish are below 3 inches and i wanted them to pair up and the male also does the shaking head thing but the female is terrified of him

ooooooh, she wants him ;)

how did your jack dempseys respond to each other when they were juvenillese. My 2 inch male keeps chasing my 1 1/2 inch female and she is so scared she just hides at te top of the tank in the corner. I added as much cover as possible in my 55 gallon and inside the tank is 1x medium log 1x big log 1x medium mangrove root 1x flower pot and 4x tall plants i dont know what to do

@flemmingj1965 I once had six 8 Jack Dempseys in the same tank together and they got along fine and lived a longtime it was a 55 gallon

1:35 lol.
i have a question i tried this i have a pair of dempseys the females the same size as urs and the males a little smaller about 4 years old and i tried the mirror and it was a no go this was a few months back it was a bit of a crowded tank now theyre with just my red bellied pacu and he just chills soo they really are more comfortable now do you think this would work now and do they get tooo agressive to each other or other fish after eggs are layed the pacu is 15" soo he should be ok?

Hi Tweak ... The mirror works with some fish and not with others. Since they are now less crowded and able to claim some territory, it may work better for you. Don't worry about that Pacu. If they try to get too rough with him, he can take care of himself. A breeding pair of JDs don't usually get agressive with each other while caring for eggs BUT, I find that males often get mean with their females between broods. Good luck. :)

are these EBJD's??

Many people have asked if my JD are Electric Blues. They are NOT. They are simply a result of excellent nutrition (varied diet) and good living conditions. When mating, most every fish's colors become more intense.
