Part 1 Summary: At Rodi's, Rex tries to tell Shane that he's his real dad, but Shane cuts him off, announcing that he's changing his last name to Lovett to honor his "dad," Brody. Everyone's speechless as Shane goes on to say he researched it and everything, etc.
Rex is so upset, he leaves and finds Charlie with Roxy, otherwise known as his fake dad and the mom who lied to him. He basically takes out his frustration on Roxy, telling her he hates her. Charlie sets Rex straight: Your mother is not perfect, but she loves you, so quit being a jerk.
Rex is immediately sorry and ends up telling his mom about Shane. Roxy's happy she has a grandson, but even happier that Rex lets her comfort him.
Meanwhile, Gigi has a stern talk with Shane and Brody. She tells Shane she's hurt that he doesn't want to be a Morasco anymore, but Shane has a solution -- hyphenate! Later, Brody admits it makes him all warm and fuzzy to know Shane loves him so much, but Gigi warns him that making Shane his son isn't going to fix all his problems.
At La Boulaie, Langston's shocked when Dorian asks if she can officially adopt her, but gets angry when she realizes Dorian's doing it because she's looking for her mom's family, the Montezes. Dorian admits that's true, but she also loves Langston so much. Starr and Dorian pile on reasons Langston should say yes. Langston finally agrees, and Dorian decides to throw a huge party to celebrate.
While looking for Cole at the Buchanan mansion, Markko gets a call from Langston, telling him the good news. Clint overhears, and he's enormously pleased -- everything's falling into place. Dorian wants to adopt Langston right when Jared is about to bring Langston's long-lost uncle Ray Montez to Llanview. Nora's totally disgusted with Clint; she can't believe he'd intentionally hurt Langston just to get back at Dorian. Worse, he lies to Markko to cover himself when Markko overhears Clint talking about Langston to Nora.
At Todd's place, he's unhappy to see Marty walking around on her own. Marty calls Todd out on his disappointment, but Todd says it's because it looks like she doesn't need him anymore. Marty quickly (and flirtatiously) sets him straight: She totally needs him! She couldn't have recovered without him. Actually, they're going to need each other, like partners, when they take care of Starr's baby together. Todd loves the sound of that, and Marty's in such a good mood that she asks him to dance to "Heart and Soul."
Layla goes to find Michael at the hospital. She feels bad that Marcie saw them dancing together at Capricorn the other night. Mike assures her it's not her fault, and they flirt a little. Layla even hugs him, right when Marcie walks by on her way to see Starr's doctor, Dr. Joplin.
Marcie and Michael get all snippy with each other as Layla beats a hasty exit. Marcie goes to see Dr. Joplin, and she's so over the moon about raising Starr's baby that the doctor calls Todd to tell him their deal is off: She's not going to steal Starr's baby for him.
That little kid Shane is such a hypocrite.
He acts like Rex is nobody to him and that they were never friends before Brody came to town.
Gggrrrrrrr!

Why doesn't Gigi just come right out and tell the truth to Shane? I know she dosen't want him to hate her but the longer she waits now the worse its going to get. She's being so weak, I hate it. I understand it, but it doesn't mean I like it. If Shane knows the truth, then they can move forward but if he keeps thinking Brody's his dad, then Brody has the upper hand.
