@ coreyangela1 I can only assume you have not read the book or you could not understand the book. I have just started reading the book and have had more breakthroughs than I have had in 2 years of classes. Too many classes over emphasize "doing the work" I think more to justify their own existence than anything. I could not get a true performance while so concentrated on "the work" of acting. Guskin's book had already allowed me break from the confines traditional work.
Susan Batson is a genius and a pioneer. She trained with the greatest master teachers and is the highest level of teacher herself. She coaches huge stars and regular folks and simply blows Harold Gaskan off the stage. His book is a great series of excuses for laziness in the actor. If all actors followed this book, we'd be missing many great performances.
His name is Harold Gus-kin, Gus is pronounced like the male first name, Gus. Not Goose. Read the book as "taking it off the page" is not an exercise, just a common sense way to start exploring your work and how you respond to the text. Thanks for posting this.
