Recorded in 2009 as his penultimate project before leaving for University Oli performed an imaginative approach to this song and although he has the ability to do much more he showed great taste and musicianship by keeping this relatively simple but grooving like the clappers.
One of his finest pieces of work in my opinion.
And one of the greatest drummers I was privileged to have taught.

  • what type of kit is this? sounds great!

  • @AidanLod Its a Pearl GLX World Pro (natural wood maple), circa 1987 retired and redesigned in the form of the Masters although the masters seemed to be a compromise to make it more affordable in my opinion.

There's probably still some around on E bay.

  • @AidanLod Hey just out of interest I did a search on the GLX, quite interesting how short a life they actually had, only about 5 years and I was slightly wrong it's called Super Pro not World as i said earlier.

Bur you're right they do record so well.

  • are you using moongel dampers?

  • Yeah I love them, very flexible way to dampen drums.

  • Wow that was an amazing interpretation of the song and in my opinion no more was needed.

As a musician myself who has played the saxophone for about 10 years and who's around the same age as Oli i understand what it takes to get to that kind of level.

He's honestly the most talented drummer that ive seen at his age. My friend's can't compare to him but like you say it's not a competition.

Hoping to see more of him in the future.

    Keep it up Oli!

P.S- Learning guitar soon. Any tips?

  • One of the kindest and most encouraging remarks to date for Oli and indeed myself as his teacher, thank you very much.

As regards learning guitar my only advice would of course be find a good teacher and enjoy the instrument.

    Thanks again

    Martin
