Hello 405th.com members! This is my first attempt at a tutorial, so please be gentle in your comments. :)

Many have asked me how I do my pepakura unfolds. Well, here you go. This was recorded at 3fps and played back at 15fps (5x normal speed), so some parts are going to go a little fast, but hopefully the information comes across well enough. Unfolding can take a long time, so it was sped up to reduce some of the tedium.

Model provided by Nintendude. Original modeller is Spartan857.

  • Blender, Maya, ect... What do you recommend?

  • @triumphantone23 As far as modeling for Pepakura goes, the tools you're going to be using are pretty much the same. It mostly boils down to whose UI you're most comfortable with...and of course, your budget. I'd give Blender a try. It's free and the new v2.5 interface is much better than its old v2.49 interface.

  • can I make my picture (face) into 3D on pepakura?

  • @xvzw If you're good at head/face modeling, sure. Whatever modeling program you're using, just make sure you export it to something Pepakura Designer can import.

  • @MrOreo123 really pepakura can do that? Please can you make a tutorial on how to make a head into 3D? I have full pepakura but i dont know how to make 3D :(

  • @xvzw No, you have to make the 3d model in some other program (Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, Metasequoia, take your pick), then import that into Pepakura Designer. There are already an insane number of face/head modeling tutorials out there. Just google it.

  • Thank you! Searched this type of tutorial so loooong... You're great. Thank you once again. Best regards from Poland, Greg

    P.S.

What software are you using for 3d modeling? Can you make a tutorial too, please? Or could you make Darth Revan helmet and Guy Fawkes mask .pdo? ;)

  • Do you have to have this program downloaded to print something off?

  • two thumbs up for you man..... i really thank u for sharing your knowledge with us.... success always!!!

  • I'm on RPF, 405th, and DentedHelmet under "TQuiz" add me. I started trying to do this kind of stuff with foam and fiberglass. Pepakura is so much easier and not nearly as messy.
