Is that the original Tamiya gearbox with new gears or is it a whole complete new unit, and what is the ratio compared to the original. Also, I've heard that these gearboxes are extremely loud. Is that true.

that is IMPACT TU3 (Transmission Unit 3)

It comes with a DDG (Drop Down Gear) at GR (Gear Ratio) 105.5

The DDG can be removed to for GR 59.8

TUs are generically louder than stock Tamiya's gearboxes because the gears are 100% in steel, and shafts are not bearing'ed

Tamiya gears' material is : nylon, brass, and cast iron. That is why it is very quiet

After running IMPACT TU for about 2hours, the noise level will drop a little

IMPACT also has 3 types of HOP UP Set to change the current GR
