ArchBang Linux is a lightweight distribution based on Arch Linux. Using the Openbox window manager, it is fast, up-to-date and suitable for both desktop and portable systems. In this series I will show you how to install and convert this into a full Arch Linux system.

I will not be adding links to the shownotes in this series as everything you will need to know is answered in the Arch WIKI. If you wish to commit to Arch you MUST make good use of the documentation.

  • hey cool videos. archbang makes arch setup a breeze! Just an idea I figured when watching this - if you goto the mirrorlist generator on arch ljnux home page, you can download a list sorted by the score; you can then pick the mirrors that have lowest scores to ensure the freshness ;) rankmirror on that list to get the latest and the fastest!

  • @mahakoushik YES I have used the mirrorlist generator... Good one!

  • when i type cd /ect/pacman.d it says no such file in directory.... Please help

  • @ALPHA360BX Try /etc/pacman.d not /ect/pacman.d

  • I accidentally typed mirrorlixt instead of mirrorlist during this process. It threw me for a loop for a while until I figured out what I had done. Exact typing (without typos) is essential. lol

  • @brobriobri Linux AUTOMATICALLY assumes that you KNOW what you are doing! LOL Spelling is very important.

  • thnx , i love ur tutorials

  • @rayyanputra When you install Archbang and complete the system upgrade, you will have an ARCH linux system, provided you choose to "Unbrand" it. Archbang is easier to install and has a desktop environment you can start with. AB bridges the gap and allows intermediate Linux users to tap into the power of Arch.

  • You have made me to think twice about Archbang..by the way you show it to us, I probably choose Archbang instead of Arch Linux..but...I wanna know about you opinion sir..which one do you prefer the most?

  • Thanks for part 4, this is great.
