Blossom Dearie (1926-2009) sings Ramses Shaffy (1933-2009)
The American jazz-singer Blossom Dearie recorded Shaffy's song 'Sammy'.
Singing in one of Shaffy's shows during the late 1960s, she became one of his many admirers:
"Ramses had such a distinctive laugh. (...) I think Ramses is one of the most gifted musician/songwriters in the music world.
His melodies are wonderful, I don't understand Dutch but I am sure the lyrics are first class.
As a performer he is definitely first class--a world class artist and I am crazy about him."
Wistful...mystical....incomparable––the absolute cure of hypertension--a reminder that the beautiful is still possible. I LOVE Blossom Dearie.

@3983Signe It's not a specific friend. It is also not Ramses Shaffy himself. According to Ramses in an interview, it's a composite character, consisting of several friends from the sixties.

Sammy must have been a friend of Ramses Shaffy then?

@3983Signe Sammy is a song written and performed by the Dutch singer Ramses Shaffy; Blossom was several times a guest in his show in the sixties and she is the only one performing this song in English; and it's a beatifull interpretation!
