This is a video entry of the Redding iron ore shaft mine located at Red Mountain Park in Birmingham Alabama on Feb 28, 2010. The mine was closed / sealed prior to 1930. The entry was done by lowering a video camera and light source. The decent ended at approximately 250 feet when water was encountered. The Redding shaft iron mine is located near lakeshore parkway in Birmingham Alabama. The cudzu has been cut as part of the development of the new red mountain park. The other video made the same day on youtube contains a short view of the water we fournd as we lower the camera system to the bottom of the shaft.

Is this the shaft that is out in the park off of lakeshore pkwy? like its in the middle of the big cudzu patch. It had a large concrete slab poured over the top with a pipe that you could see down...
