A Tim Hortons' commercial about...coffee? This is more like a very short short about family, culture, and forgiveness, while tapping into the Asian American experience. Entitled originally as "Proud Fathers."

Chinese dad is bitter about his own father's negative attitude towards sports - "Jimmy-ah! You must study more, no more hockey all the time. Understand!!" - now strives to be the father he dreamt of having. But what's this? His dad is at the hockey rink to watch his grandson's game? What's the meaning of this?

Supporting your children's athletic activities a few decades too late, but this cup of coffee ought to make up for it, eh? Eh? ...

  • @timtwoface

personally i think its a cultural thing.

Chinese parents tend to push children more to study. The father doesn't want to support the idea of playing hockey and want him to focus on studies. Deep down though, he wants his son to be happy. Not telling him could be a pride thing.
