Old Iced Earth were amazing, even before Barlow arrived. ''Night of the Stormrider'' is by far their best album and probably one of the best metal albums of the 90s.
Fuck all this shitty Trivium, Killswith Engage & Machine Head bullshit of today.
In terms of great American metal it's all about Iced Earth & Nevermore!

everyone's gotta start somewhere... Iced Earth started by practicing in a dinky little storage locker, in a town with no club scene for them, with a sub-par vocalist that had little personality. however, give them the right vocalist (i.e. matt barlow, ripper owens or stu block) and they will make any song KICK ASS

I hate Gene Adam's vocals at first, but no that i've gotten used to them i think they're kinda awesome.. anyway unique.. same goes for Sean Killian (Vio-Lence)

Jon looks weird without his beard.

I think it's the other way around actually. But you might be of the new era ;)

I don't know, I just think that his beard is cool.
I've been listening to all of the Iced Earth album in chronological order (except for Framing Armageddon, which was too awesome to wait). But yeah, I'm used to see the "new era" Jon.

Great man, I (used to) listen mostly to their 1988-2001 work. Musicians get older too, haha.
