Rapid Writing is a Wave 3 Intervention programme for KS2 Literacy. The Primary resource is aimed at supporting SEN children, teachers and struggling learners with their writing skills.
In this video, a Primary school are trialling Rapid Writing, the teacher identifies the main issues for these pupils when it comes to KS2 Literacy: Lack of ideas for writing due to their potentially limited exposure to reading, sequencing ideas within a sentence and the mechanics of writing such as grammar, punctuation and spelling.
In this case the teacher states some of the benefits of Rapid writing as:
The children being motivated by the use of technology, particularly good as Rapid Writing reads the pupils sentences back to them, encouraging them to make their own corrections. Rapid Writing was also praised for its fun, colourful materials which helps to motivate and engage pupils.
