Was a judge right to free a man guilty of downloading child porn. The judge said he had to bear in mind John Reid's letter urging judges to jail only the most dangerous or persistent criminals. So was the judge making a political point? Was he right to spare Derek Williams jail?

If they are going to let these perverts out onto the streets (ok maybe he hasn't touch a child yet but he's obviously thinking about it and finds the idea exciting) they must at least chemically castrate them so they are not a risk to our children. Right on, judge. You need to stop sending dangerous pedophiles to jail to make room for other offenders. After all, there are some people out there smoking marijunana who need to go to jail. That's obviously much worse then buying pictures of child abuse and encouraging it.
