  • can the new pod hd's change the channels on an amp that uses a standard on/off footswitch to change channels?

  • @swyitch no. The POD will only be able to do this via a MIDI connection to an amp.

  • I've had my unit for about 4 days. I already knew this stuff, but if I hadn't this video would be great and it was very clearly produced. Good job, Line6.

  • @TheStPierre hey thanks!

  • Gay, it won't change the channels on an amp, why would I want to use the shitty distortions when I have what I want when all I want is to assign different effects to the channels on my amp on top of what I already have, line6 why you so disappointing?

  • I really want to set up my pod for use like this... but I fail to see how I'd change patches... Someone further down said you just use the first 4 switch as normal. but what if you are on preset 1 with a reverb set up on foot switch 5... would that not then change your patch instead?

  • So, I can run this through let's say my B-52 half stack tube amp Effects loop, and just use the pod as a footswitch and multi effects pedal with the expression pedal and turn off the amp modeling? I would definitely use it for recording or other cases, but I play live a lot and was wondering if I could do what I asked

  • @jnuhjnuh, 100% true. And boy did life get easier once I completely abandoned that crappy little LCD screen on the HD500. I think it's a little sad that a computer should be necessary in this day and age, and I think it would have been cheaper and more portable for many to have had an iOS/Android option as also, but I agree that the HD500 Edit program is excellent.

  • @teerexness most if not all of these functions can be controlled by your mac or pc in a very user-friendly graphical interface.

  • Can you assign one foot-switch to turn one effect off, and one effect on at the same time, for example : turn amp distortion off and a reverb on?

  • the pod hd500 work with all amps??

  • The goal here should have been to build a unit that didn't need to have video tutorials or even chapters in a paper manual to explain them. It's 2011, and you are still using the ridiculous paging system type OS first seen almost 30 years ago on keyboards. I'd suggest Line 6 work on getting this unit's full control into an iPad app.

  • This is ridiculously convoluted. By default, the bottom row of foot switches should be for patches (amp/FX/Cab combinations) and the top row should have been for turning on/off effects within the chosen patch.

The "fresh out of the box" experience with this otherwise wonderful sounding unit is a disaster. Presets are bizarre and musically useless, buttons are given too many convoluted functions (made worse by the 1980's style LCD), foot switches that do nothing, a pedal that does nothing.

  • @VelhosNovos with your preset change button or just use first 4 FS's
