Gulf of Oman strategy guide map overview, Battlefield 3 64 player Back to Karkand

This is my strategy guide map overview for the battlefield 3 back to karkand map "gulf of oman" 64 player conquest mode. Information highlights listed in the description, because I still can't find a way to create proper captions that don't make the commentary look like it was done by a drunk monkey.

I noticed that a lot of USA teams (Aircraft carrier teams) tend to lose on this map. There is a reason for this, which can be countered by proper tactics. Gulf of oman, from battlefield 2, was a conquest: head-on map. Maps of this structure usually have two teams that have the same, or similar, numbers of vehicles and bases. It seems like EA and DICE Forgot that gulf of oman was a conquest: head-on map, and it was structured as if it were a conquest: assault map (like all the other maps in the back to karkand map pack).

The russian team's key to victory is it's air control. Because winning in BF3 conquest is now based mainly off territory control due to the ticket bleed effect (which is much more dramatic than it was in battlefield 2), controlling bases is more important then having a lot of people with positive Kill / death ratios. As such, tactics change.

The USA team can lose its air control easily if they compete head-on with the russian team, even though the russian team has less aircraft. However, due to the tactical value of the construction site, you can land a sniper or an engineer with a rocket on the rooftop to fire at the russian team's main base. This can be done to lock down their airpower and slow down the rate at which they can get vehicles into the air. This gives the USA team air superiority and allows for the capture of the 3 starting russian bases, which all have a way to fire into the russian team main base.

The USA team has a transport helicopter, the russian team does not. Because of this, air control is more important for the russian team. Locking down the russian team's air power can slam the team's mobility.

The best point for a team to harass the russian team main base is on the construction site buildings. They can be countersniped, however.

One of the most important tactics to use for the ground fighting is to understand how much armor is on this map. There are armored vehicles all over the place. A vehicle or a squad attacking a base alone will usually lose the engagement, but pairing a tank or APC with an engineer who has a rocket will increase combat effectiveness dramatically due to the number of armor-vs-armor engagements that will take place on this map.

@ArmorKingEmir back in MY day, we'd send spec ops into the MEC main base to blow up the commander assets with C4 and steal jets, and it was considered a normal tactic.

can you do a review on how to play this map in team deathmatch?

I notice a lot of people try to rush to the rooftops, and the amount of recon goes up.

My problem, is that when they are spotted (usually by their own fire), I'm unsure of how to get to them. Also, some buildings have ladders and some don't so I'm not sure exactly how to maneuver through the team deathmatch version of this map.

i have NO idea what u just said all i do is kill evenone @ the base im on n evenone i see on my way the the base thats bein lost or we dont have..lol i ve played 197hrs 1.5 kd n i still have "0" jets points...so ive given up on jets..it woild have been nice to have a practice map for use first time battlefield players to learn to fly..i love this dam game..ps i liked ur vid...keep it up i all watch ur stuff!
