I don't like thise exercises so much...I think that the first exercise for instance is in the range of motion where almost all the work is done by the ileo psoas and the rectus femoris...no offence, i apprecciate good ideas and try new ways to train :) but i think there are some more ways to develop abs better, safer and simpler :)

too much flexion of the spine, causes back pian, there are much better gym ball exercises for abs i.e. Jack knives

i tried this last Saturday and it did hurt my lower back, and to cross ankles and bent knees would force you to be crouching on your spine, its kind of dangerous unless your on a gymnastic mat. or something like that.
but there are a lot of ways to be creative with free weights and specially kettlebells so if there is a will there is a way :)

lift them off of the ground crossed at the ankles and bend your knees maybe?
you could also immobilize them by putting your feet under a couch or easy chair

awesome workout, though i only have a single kettlebel so am gona have to be creative about how to keep my feet down. otherwise it really hurts the lower back muscles and spine

I only have a single kettlebell too. What I do is stick my feet under the couch to ground me.
