David DeCastro 2012 NFL Draft Profile

SB Nation continues on with its unique video series profiling this year's crop of NFL hopefuls. The middle part of the first round could be populated by offensive linemen -- guys like David DeCastro, the top rated offensive guard in this year's Draft.

40-yard dash - 5.43 secs
Bench press - 34 reps
Vertical jump - 29.5"
Broad jump - 8'2"
3-cone drill - 7.3 secs
20-yard shuttle - 4.56 secs

Yea man four 45 lbs plates, 2 on each side, 45 lbs bar. I did play fullback in college at 235 lbs and I've been lifting for 10 years straight and bench is one of my favorites. Afterwards I've cut down alot now down to 210. It can be done, I mean look at alot of the running backs in the combine. They are doing at 20 reps or more. If Trent Richardson wasn't hurt he would've smashed 30 reps at least

I agree 100% but it just is just a performance benchmark unfortunately.

Sure your doing 225 pounds? The average NFL player at your weight does 10-15. Unless you are a pro weightlifter I find that hard to believe.

people put wayyy too much emphasis on bench. squats and cleans make you a football player, not a bench press

And people get paid to produce this crap. Pretty sure you could've given my autistic cousin a lollipop to make an equivalent video, if not better. On a lighter note, ecstatic this guys is a Steeler. He's gonna be a total beast for years to come. 6-5, 310 lbs, and can flat out move.
