found a 8'x2'x4" syrofoam on a job site and was just playing around with it to see what can be done with it to make an aquarium BG. wasn't planning on putting it in my tank when i got it 2-3 years ago, but i desided to put it in. next time i'll plan a little better on rock formation... but i think it looks great. many many changes were done to color/texture to get it to look to my satisfaction. it all looked great, i finally ended with a sandy texture to give it a real rock look. just plain cement didn't look right(probably because i know it was cement{being critical on myself}). cement by itself gave it a soft liquidy look(not natural)

  • is this a glass or acrylic tank? if its glass then how thick that glass is? & awsome background mate

  • @sshhaammiiiiiiiiii it's 1/2" glass, bottom looks like 1"

  • @apauln i'm making a 350 gallon tank... what should be the thickness of the glass of that tank?

  • @sshhaammiiiiiiiiii glass scares me, there has to be NO mistakes. i, myself, would leave glass to the pros.

you'd have to ask someone who knows 'glass'. sorry i can't be more helpful...

  • Great job mate, what did you use to finish it and give it that real effect?

  • @morrie260 i tried lots of different combinations, but it seems cement and sand mix looks best. cement by itself doesn't look natural...
