I am fortunate and blessed enough to be able to learn from him. He is a true master. Not only will he show exactly what he plays, but during sargam riyaaz he will sit and play with the students. Take your fastest jhala and he will play sargam double speed over it. I have sat a foot away from him and watched him do it. Music must have technique and emotion, not just one or the other. These are his words. I must say once again that I am blessed and so fortunate to learn from him.

you're wrong..you can practice all day long but it won't help if you're not practicing the right things..only a good teacher can show you the proper path

simply superb.i agree that each ustaad has his own speciality but there is no particular sitar techniqe that is not mastered by ustaad pervez.clarity,puriy,speed and above all,melody are the chief contents of this gem's sitar-playing.

playing is great but the raga sense is less he has to show both puriya in mandra and kalyan in taar saptak but still playing is excellent

Speaking solely for myself, I wouldn't want to be forced to judge who is the greater: Shahid khansahib or Shujaat Khansahib. They are both the best of this generation, and equally blessed musical geniuses! We are so fortunate to live in this time, when they are both playing!

This man is untouchable, period. No one, live or dead, can touch him. This does not mean, God forbid, that i am insulting or demeaning Ustads before him. It is what it is. Go and listen to anyone before him and i mean anyone and come back and listen to him and compare the clarity and difficultly. I am positive that someone will come and eclipses this man as well, but until then, let;s enjoy his music as well as others.
