Joshua and Judges are the opening books of the Deuteronomistic historians, and recount the purported defeat of Canaan by the Israelites. The actual history of Israel reflects its geographic position and nature.

Read what I *wrote.* You will see that I understood that you were discounting her *remarks*. However, this video is about the GEOGRAPHY of Israel. She says that TRADITION identifies the Dead Sea area as the site of Sodom and Gomorrah. That is accurate, as far as I know. She makes no remarks in this video about homophobic sentiments in the ANE. I disagree with anti-homosexual bigotry too. END of discussion.
Almost all pseudo-historical claims in the Bible are discredited by the legitimate archeological community. It is a work of fiction written by and for bigots. That is why I illustrated and uploaded this lecture series. However, if you think that Prof Hayes' remarks are bullshit, I suggest that you take it up with her.
Bullshit. The existence of Sodom and Gomorrah is not accepted by the archaeological community AT ALL. They were made up biblical cities use to express bigotry towards homosexuals.
