@caelano112 Simple answer, U2 made it big because they always looked abroad, they made music not for us but for Americans. It was a solid plan as they are very successful but they were never Irish unless it suited them to be. Aslan by contrast made music for Irish people because they are Irish and proud of it. I cant say im Aslans biggest fan but i respect them and like a lot of people on here ive had the distinct pleasure of meeting them. A more honest, down to earth group you couldnt meet.

@CaptainYossarian What complete rubbish- U2 made it big because more people bought their music. U2 are just as down to earth as Aslan, from the same backgrounds and area. You are talking pseudo nationalist trash. Aslan and U2 are both great bands, but don't patronise Christy and the lads by saying they have suffered because they are faithful to some "Oirish". @CaptainYossarian here aslan are my favourite band but U2 were always irish they just went to america and england to make the money and their name cause in fairness if you go to america and say your irish they love you but they were always true to ireland

sometime you juts remember a song out of the blue youtube it and then on very rare occasions discover something new and unexpected and pleasing in this case i didnt realise they were irish and i am so proud we irish hav made beautiful songs like this!

They played twice in the Golden Ball, Kilternan, recently... Was blown away both times. The only bad thing was I was working behind the bar and didn't get to watch them properly! But it was amazing stuff all the same! Shoulda been bigger than U2!!!
