In order to setup a home media center you need the right hardware. The first and most important is a decent PC. If you don't have a decent pc than you shouldn't use it. I would reccomend any computer that has a dual core processor, 2 gb of ram and at least a newer graphics card on the market that supports HD. If you don't have a fast enough graphics card you could purchase a usb graphics card: http://www.jr.com/diamond-multimedia/pe/DDD_BVU195/. If you have a mac I would reccomend using a mac mini but any new mac should work fine for a media center. To get started with the display for PC you will need a DVI connector or VGA (depending on the tv) if your new TV has an HDMI cable you should use a DVI to HDMI adapter: http://www.cablesandkits.com/cables-unlimited-hdmi-male-dvid-single-link-male... . Then if you have a mac from 2009 - current you need to get a mini display to DVI: http://www.eforcity.com/tothmdpdvimf.html?efprcggbadtf110506=sc+gb+tothmdpdvimf . Then you can watch the next video on how to set it up. If you have a PC you can just go and connect it using a dvi to hdmi cable or adapter and plug it in to your tv's HDMI port. Once that's setup you need to look at remotes. For Mac and PC I reccomend using an iPod touch and iPhone and use an application called HippoRemote. If you don't have an iPod Touch or iPhone than for mac's you should use the apple remote which cost $20 keep in mind that macbooks don't support the remote only macbook pros. For PC's and Macbook's I sugest a remote control: http://www.amazon.com/ATI-Remote-Wonder-Original-Control/dp/B001407AB2 . By having at least $50 you should be ok in setting up a home media center as shown in the next video.
