Edward Kirsh, M.D., Chairman of Urology at MacNeal Hospital just outside of Chicago, is an expert in InterStim therapy for overactive bladder. This condition is defined as urinary frequency, urgency, with or without urge incontinence. People who have poor bladder control or leak urine despite treatment with medicines such as Detrol LA, Ditropan (oxybutynin), Vesicare, Enablex, Sanctura and Toviaz should consider sacral nerve stimulation to the bladder. Interstim is also successful for urinary retention, a condition which requires a tube or catheter to empty the bladder.

  • My life is a living hell at the moment. Frequency, urgency and leakage.I have been told the problem is with my urethra not my bladder. Do you think Interstim could help. My Consultant is keen to try.

  • @iPringleXi

sounds like you could benefit from a bladder study to help with the diagnosis- a urodynamics study, and a subsequent trial of medication(s) for OAB. good luck!

  • my brother is 14 years old and he has had urinary retention for 1 year i wonder can this work for him.

  • @shelley180, although it is not indicated in children under 18yrs old, it has been used successfully in the pediatric population. to see if he is a candidate, he would need to have an in-depth evaluation preferably by a pediatric urologist.

Thought about this three yrs ago and I've had enough. The thought of not waking up every hour or while out and about will be soooo cool. The video clinched the issue for me. Now I'm waiting for the results.

  • @interstim livinpeece hopefully. Three weeks the test and we'll see from there. I will get back to u with my results.

  • i have this in my body right now. It was a success with the trial assessment and the first couple of months. But right now, it's bad. Its just like if i didnt have it. Only i have electrical little thuds n my body. I was in a car accident when i was 15 and got this did when i was 16. Im 19 now and want to look for an alternative or something. didnt know there were so many ppl with this condition like me, b/c ppl my age dont understand.

  • I have my TRIAL ASSESSMENT on july 28th in Belgium, I really hope it works because life is hell if you have to live with this problem...

  • Have you had a lot of success in using this on younger women? I'm a 27 year old woman and I have frequency problems, but no leakage or pain. One of my doctors suggested this and I'm mulling it over. I also have two slipped disks in my lower back. Will this aggravate my back pain?

  • I have had bladder issues for many years now and have tried many prescriptions with out really solving my problems. I found out about the interstim on the web and now found this video. I am 58 years old and this looks like something for me after hearing the doctor talk and how happy the patients are.
