Pepe is a 40 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon. She has lived with same family since 1977. She was a wild capture from Mexico and roamed the town freely as a pet for several years. Her B/G Macaw friend came across an accident that took its life, and in 1977 Pepito was allowed to move to California.
After many years Pepe's human companion passed away. Ten years ago responsibility as a caretaker became another family member that has been unable to handle her. Recently the very difficult decision was made that in best interest of Pepe, to get her to people that have the experience and knowledge to give her the best possible surroundings and lifestyle, knowing they were never be able to provide. After working several days with Pepe, her training continues for socializing with people. FCBS will continue to work with her. She is very sweet actually and has polite manners and was obviously loved. Her cage came with her and is 4ft x 6ft tall. Pepe has not allowed herself to be caged in almost three years. She seems to be taking well to her new surroundings, and enjoys all the attention.

  • so she still is avalible?

  • Sorry no.

  • oh my gosh!!!I want her so bad now!!!!!!is she availible still?

  • She has been with me for over three years now and probably will never get adopted.

She now does therapy visits at an assisted living home on the third Tuesday of every month. A video will be coming soon.

    She LOVES it!

I do have several similar birds personalities much younger that need homes also looking for homes if you live in NC.

Go to our FCBS web site and check them out.

  • It's ashame we could't just release unwanted parrots back to the wild where they originally came from.I'm sure being around other parrot species in the wild, they would adapt rapidly. If a predator gets a few hear and there,it would still be the best thing to do.They deserve to be free and flying with their fellow birdy colleagues.LOL PARROTS RULE !

  • I really wish it would work that way but the hard truth is that 99% would die.

The only way I have heard of that happening is in cases of escapes during deliveries of large batches in transport to captivity, for example from a breeder, where the contact has been at a minimum.

Do a search on the successful Brooklyn Parrots. That's a wonderful story you may enjoy following.

  • Beautiful Bird and Great video.

  • We have a program in place that you have to complete if you sponsor a bird here. It requires volunteering, vet exam, and a couple stages of stages of approval, such as housing for both cage and location.
