  • It does not have any sort of ratched-and-pawl-like mechanism, the japanese, as far as I know, never made any attempt of copying this sort of movement (among that, because bulova hold the patents) only the ESA and under bulova's license, it uses a more convenient solution, suitable for a clock: a magnetic escapement

  • I have one which was made for Bulova; it is smaller than that, and uses the same kind of escapement. It operates at 400 hertz.

  • Well, I figured the Japanese would have their try with tuning-fork technology. What's the ratchet-and-pawl mechanism like?
