[10.13.08] " Welcome Home Billy ! "

At the Chancellor Estate, Ester serves drinks all around. Billy postpones Cane's toast (to him) - we still have guests to arrive. What they don't know won't hurt em - to hell with protocol, Jill agrees. Welcome home Billy, all clink glasses.

Even before walking into Billy's homecoming party, Sharon makes it clear to Jack that she won't be sticking around long as she's worried about Noah (and his partying ways). He'll be fine alone for a few hours, Jack assures (eager to celebrate his little brother's return - and mend some fences). After Jill again toasts her sons, Billy toasts his mother - and Cane (for proving anybody can make it to the top of Jabot). Oh ho, Jill chuckles at the sparring (though Kay doesn't appear as amused). Also laughing, Cane toasts his brother Billy - who might soon be looking for a new job. Over dinner, Kay has a story that will cure the brothers of their rivalry.
At the dinner table, Kay interrupts the 'pilgrims' with a story of Adam and Eve - and their two sons, Cane and Able. God saw the evil in Cane and banished him East of Eden. Ignoring Jack's lame inteections of humour, Kay goes on - Brothers are always rivals - don't let it get too serious - promise me it won't. Cane and Billy both agree.

Back at the dinner party, Jack talks to Cane - the man in the desk that used to be his. When Jack can't be of any help as he doesn't know eyeliner from mascara anymore, Cane quips 'that makes two of us'. NOT laughing, Jack HOPES that's a joke. Of course it is, Cane talks about increasing profits and reformulating the base product to cut down cost. Reformulated the eye care line? Jack balks - my father's creation - cornerstone of the business? Cane means no disrespect - but you gotta change with the times. Sharon pipes up to say she's the spokesperson for BoN - then ducks out early. Billy thanks Kay for a great night - and reminds the 'other guy's' the one named Cane. Kay still sees the devil in him - stay out of trouble. I'll be a good boy, Billy elicits a giggle from granny.Billy chats with Chloe - hard day? You got this Mom act down good - and all the identities. But you were more fun before my brother knocked you up.
Inside, Cane declines a cigar - I don't smoke - can't stand the smell of those things. Unconcerned, Billy emits clouds of smoke into the room. Don't know what you're missing. Never heard the Cane and Able story told quite like that, he grins. When Cane doesn't plan to emulate his biblical counterpart (by killing him), Billy jokes - maybe they should call ME Cane. I'm jokin' wid ya! he smacks Cane's shoulder.
