World's largest kite unvieled at 25th Bristol International Kite Festival 2011

Kite World Record Fails in Bristol !The Festival celebrates its 25th year in 2011!




A great introduction to the colourful world of kites is attending one of the many public festivals and displays which take place during the summer months. The largest and most established in the UK is the annual Bristol International Kite Festival which takes place in the beautiful Ashton Court Estate.

Bristol Kite festival was the brainchild of three friends, Martin Lester, John Peyton, and Avril Baker. Lester and Peyton were designers and kite enthusiasts who had worked together at Bower Ashton College of Art & Design, in Bristol. Avril Jones, as she was then, was working in public relations and marketing. Following a successful flying display they put on for a local Council event the three decided to stage a proper kite festival.
