btw, before I get called anything, I'm just going to say I am a socialist and a libertarian. the idea that we cannot work together for the benefit of the whole is foolish (we just have to keep our greed in check), and if you think working together (i.e. some form of collectivism) strips you of your individuality, then you probably didn't have much individuality to start with.

pure capitalism or pure communism are both, i would say, extremist groups. the fact is, we should be like Bruce Lee on this one, take what works about both systems and use the best bits. the reason we dont'? both sides are propagandized into hating the other for ideological reasons. comprimise, common ground, jesus! the fact is authoritarian communism (if you could even call it that... but i'll let it slide this once) is sick and so is crony capitalism (which is what the west has now)

I cannot honestly believe this debate is still going on... anyone who thinks Stalin was a communist is unhinged. He was a dictator, I would say a fascist dictator. Q: If Hitler was a fascist (and I would say most people will sign on to that) then how is Stalin not a fascist? A: B/c he said he isn't? hahaha... guess what? I'm chinese! (actually i'm a honky, but am I chinese b/c i say i am? if i say it long enough and loud enough and kill anyone who says otherwise, will i one day be chinese?)

@qlaw04 in addition, communism regulates amount of means of production in property, not property you honestly earned by your labour, in this case those who exploited others lost their property to state, those who did not keep everything.
