  • This is really going to piss off Canadian government employees because they're gonna take an old laptop from a storage closet home and it's gonna be locked out

  • @cyborgtroy - For the device to make an agent call to the monitoring center the Windows OS has to be running. However, if the device has a cellular broadband modem it can also be locked by way of an SMS message sent from the monitoring center. This doesn't require an agent call. Also, if the timer is turned on and set then it can also run down and lock the device even if the OS isn't running.

  • @cyborgtroy i don't know.. but the vpro tecnology can show you the monitor's pc whenever.. you can control also the bios via internet.. you don't need windows..

  • That's pretty creepy.

    Does the system have to boot into Windows to contact the monitoring center, or can the BIOS do that automatically whenever it has an Internet connection?
