  • @retepvosnul I use Linux Debian as a Desktop OS (And for servers, i prefer FreeBSD), and i more think the GUI Nonsence is useless. Some things just don't need a button. Soon, people are gonna be so retarded, the only thing they're gonna be doing is pushing buttons. What's so awesome about Pushing buttons that you Windows Fans so like? I think it's boring. If you think Something just takes too long, you can just make a script with a Zeniti front-end to do it.

  • It's 2011. If the most user friendly consumer version of Linux needs a command line howto to install a simple font, then linux will never be desktop ready. I really hope that some proper apps are out there to make this non sense obsolete.

  • it was removed. Instead of "font://" use "~/.fonts"

  • You don't need root to do this.

    Just:

    mkdir ~/.fonts

    mv font.ttf ~/.fonts/

or i you use wine and some app need to share same font between wine and linux, do this:

    ln -s ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts ~/.fonts

If you experiment with different fonts, you can bookmark your "~/.fonts/" folder with nautilus.

  • Is there a way to check the trrue name of the font looking inside the .ttf?

  • Yes there is,but last I checked it didn't work well.

  • Isn't there a font manager for GNOME where you can install fonts? If that's not the case, I remember you can enter "font://" or something like that into Nautilus' Address bar and you'll be directed to a directory where you can drag in a font and install it.

  • Thanks much. This one was a treat for the OOo users making posters for the halloween parties.

  • quinquefoliolate...Lmao..

  • Because ninjas are too busy. I love the Shirt!!!
