German Countertenor Andreas Scholl sings Bertarido's aria "Se Fiera Belva Ha Cinto" from Handel's Rodelinda. This clip was taken from the 1998 Glyndebourne production. I have always enjoyed this aria and never understood why it wasnt more popular. Oh well. Hope you like!!!

Very original ornamentations. In very good taste. Andra Scholl is a terrific singer. The only down side of the interpretation is that it's not very terrifying... "When a wild best is set free after being imprisonned and wounded, he shall show merciless rage"... I'm not under the impression that Andrea's singing those menacing lyrics.

Now with the renewal of interest in having countertenors in opera, Andreas Scholl is outstanding among many. I always am astonished how natural his voice sounds in addition to his technical precision, focus, and agility. For example, listen carefully to his performance in Mozart's early opera Mitridate.
