40 Years Old and Still Skateboarding

I use the term "vertical" a little loosely here, it simply means it's not street skating, or skating rails. The pool isn't "vertical" but it certainly is close to vertical...another couple inches of transition would make it vertical...not to nitpick, but "nowhere" isn't really correct either.

Awesome. 35 here, and looking at getting back in. Just strarted drooling over the Powell Peralta re-issues. A 10" wide pig shaped Bones Ripper deck with Indies and G-Bones is on the way.
I don't see whats so big about skating at the age of 40 well ofcourse it's fun that you still skate :) but at my local skatepark the vertskaters are mostly around 43-47 and they're doing big airs, handplants etc.

@andree1001 Whenever I am out of town I check out local parks, but never have my board or gear with me...cost prohibitive to buy new every time, but I agree, I see more and more 40+ year old guys skating...and 9 times out of 10 they skate far better than the kids...street skating just isn't and never has been my thing...I only skated the streets to get to our local ramps...not kick-flipping...the occasional curb grind or something like that was OK, but overall it was boring vs. pools/ramps.

@andree1001 I think more the idea here is that, at that point when I was 40 I hadn't skated in over 20 years...unlike riding a bicycle, skateboarding is something that sort of fades away...so in the grand scheme of things, skating for the first day in over 20 years wasn't too bad...and handplants and big airs (which I used to rip at Apple Skate Park in Columbus OH) wasn't in the quiver...I have to work to make a living and skate accidents are frowned on at my age!!

Cograts dude, I'm 40 and still skating too, but I have to nit pick a little. That pool is nowhere near vert.
