  • Ive trained in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and muay thai, and savate. I never got into Karate or kung fu. I read that Bruce lee took this art and its the backbone to JKD. I never new that. The more ive been looking at tapes of Wing Chun Im amazed at its efficency and practicality.

  • @trondyne : Kernspechts EWTO and Victor Gutierrez's "Revolution"... Both are traditional WC, but has created "add-ons".

  • @gungfu777 Belive me, if you reach that lvl of strenght and speed in your hands, nothing can stop you. Not to mention that you already have trained your legs in muay thai. Put them together and you get unstopable force :) TAI my friend :)

  • @gungfu777 dude, this is an amazin style! i've been practicing since november last year and i've learned so much! also i've improved my reflexes, reaction time and my physical condition! Highly Recommended! Respect!

There's nothing wrong with criticism.. I simply address the points raised.

The problems with Wing Chun today relate to a misunderstanding of the core of the art (energy issuing, power generation, structure destruction, lack of realistic training, etc) and I try to address these points when possible. This even involves criticism..and can apply to anyone of any family....

  • @trondyne Please do not understand my comment as criticism. I am learning all the time - been in MA for 34 over years, but it is always a learning. It is more for me to understand the thoughts rather than look stupid by pointing to something that masters have learnt, practice, understood, teach and evolve. Thank you for sharing things the way you see it. - There is no right or wrong as long as it works

  • @snbart

Can you show an example of the dan chi sao you do?

    Feel free to PM me..

BTW: The way DCS is shown here is how my teacher taught it a long time ago.. Later he changed it a bit.. These vids are very old and Sunny was a student of my teacher very early on in his teaching career so things did change a bit.. Our fook for example does not look like that anymore.

  • @snbart

It's very difficult to explain in type.. I'm not really clear what if any objection you have with the shoulder.. In order to do a hjgh Bong the shoulder is going to have to move the arm up.. Wing Chun does not really block... If someone attacks you Bong is not the ideal. If you use Bong, as with any bridge you want to use it to break their structure and make an opening for your attack.. Taking the line, using the line, returning to the line and energy issuing are the keys.

  • @trondyne

Isnt the basic foundation really important. when i practice the Dan Chi Sao, after having done umpteen Siu Nim Tao and punches, the shoulder has no strength left and i would try to hold my fist in a position that felt comfortable - Only to be corrected and shown how the structure is important to maintain the balance. A little shift of the shoulder and i was physically taught the end result.

The Deltoid is an extension of the shoulder & can move without the shoulder (Pin the shoulder)

  • @trondyne

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Seeing how styles have changed by who is teaching - there is bound to be differences and i see my teacher himself with his variation - to the extent that the PDF booklet he shared and the drill he expects us to do itself is different - Not blaming him - but probably call that refinement.

  • @snbart

That's great theory.. But the shoulder or deltoid is what lifts the elbow up for a high BongSao..

As far as facing, one should face squarely. However in practice it's very normal to lead slightly with single the hand in use.. This is a beginner drill and as such these small training artifacts are not all that critical.

What's more important is to learn to take the line with JumSao or JutSao energy and fill that space with a punch, all while maintaining correct elbow position.
