  • Nice bridge...Nice road...Nice tress...Nice view. I have known that KSRTC stands for Karnataka State Regional Transport Corporation. Then what is the abbreviation for the same in Kerala? Thanks

  • Thanks, yes it is same for kerala. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation.

  • @anilkuttykr Well then that is ridiculous. I hope, they must change both of them to KNSRTC and KLSRTC for Karnataka and Kerala respectively. I suppose they need to change it for Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh as well. However, I do not know what Madhya Pradesh state abbreviates it as. And similarly for other states as well. However, there is nothing we can do...so just chill with the videos. So, how do I know, what "K" are you referring to? One way is look at the travel destinations mentioned.

  • K which i am referring here is Kerala, this video i shot between Kozhikode and Trissure. yeah u r right but KSRTC look good for karnataka the same kerala people also feeling, in the same way there is one more issue with Train that is KK express. still some karnataka people use the word KK express for Karanataka express train. the same been using in kerala also for Kerala express. :-)

  • @anilkuttykr Similarly, for Kalyan it is KYN all over India and for suburban travel, it is K. Why maintain 2 different codes? And irrelevance is another story...For eg. Kurla is C, Karjat is S, Kasara is N in suburban lingo where as IR codes are CLA, KJT, KSRA respectively. Both the coding styles are absurd. Also, many IR codes appear out of sync. NZM for Hazrat Nizamuddin, SBC for South Banglore City, UBL for Hubli, etc. What I think is, there should be some uniformity in the namings....contd.

  • the same i dont know how vijayawada got BZA code.

  • nice one... the IR coding is totally absurd for some stations and also for state run buses nothing has been done to sort it out...weird

  • @anilkuttykr So as I was saying...Kurla, Kalyan, Karjat, Kasara, Khopoli, Khandeshwar, Kharghar should be KLA, KYN, KJT, KSA, KHP, KHDR, KHG. The short names should be either 3/4 letters only. If the stations are 1,2,3 letters, then entire abbr. should have X added to the end to make it up to 3 letters. Also, consider, there are 2 stations Madurai, Madung and Maddur, then MAD, MADX, MADY..so on... can be assigned, depending on the grade of the station.

  • @anilkuttykr Good to see that you share my thoughts. What I feel is, there are a lot of blunders that happen occasionally due to non-standard abbreviations. I believe that these government run bodies are too busy to understand the need of hour and to act swiftly. There are a lot of instances of these. For instance, if you take railway station codes, I believe that they should be unique. For instance, consider Panvel station which is abbr. as PNL by IR, but in suburban area it is PL. contd...
