NETWORK DVD is excited to release SATURDAY LIVE: FRY AND LAURIE, HARRY ENFIELD AND BEN ELTON (E) on 5th October 2009. This 3-disc set comprises the riotous acts and hilarious performances by comedians who have not only become household names, but superstars in television and even in the world of the movies Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Harry Enfield and Ben Elton. Ben Elton has then also become the permanent host of Friday Night Live.

Basing his idea on the winning format of American show Saturday Night Live, leading comedy producedr Paul Jackson created SATURDAY LIVE which has justifiably been described as the comedy revolution televised. SATURDAY LIVE was screened by Channel 4 between 1985 and 1987; it then became Friday Night Live in 1988. Almost all the best and the brightest talents in the British comedy scene at the time made their bones here and presented their shows for the first of numerous times.

DISC ONE
Before branching out into A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie brought their brand of sharply satirical, brilliantly eccentric humour to bear on a number of pressing topics on both Saturday Live and Friday Night Live. This compilation features such treasures as a mini-lecture on why Size Doesnt Count, the pitfalls of Buying a Hedge and why we should all Carpe Diem before saying Byeee

DISC TWO
Harry Enfield unleashed a trio of comic characters on Saturday Live and Friday Night Live: Greek café owner and fervent Arsenal supporter Stavros, the hilariously monstrous Loadsamoney and, occasionally, his lesser-spotted and somewhat hardier Geordie adversary Buggerallmoney makes an appearance

DISC THREE
Ben Eltons unstoppable monologues on a variety of topics delighted audiences for the classic comedy showcase throughout the later 1980s. whatever the subject, Motormouth Elton would usually deliver an animated/turbo-charged rant with regards to said subject the evils of Thatcherism, Yuppies, the Sinclair C5, nuclear power and have we mentioned Thatcherism?
