Forgot to mention also that Maya will automatically recognize the embedded alpha channel in an image format such as targa that supports a 32 bit image.

vulkein, yes man good ears. This was about the time I first started doing these tutorials and I wasn't too professional. You can hear my fishtank in some vids and my son Logan in others in the background. I have even looked back on some videos where I had music playing in the background...what I was thinking I dunno. Nope you don't need any program to open the "Channels" tab in Photoshop and create an alpha channel for your image by painting it or filling selections!
