Thief Steals Laptop, Posts Photo of Himself on Victim's Facebook

WASHINGTON - The photo purportedly shows a young thief showing off his latest loot: a brand new winter coat and a wad of cash.

The image appeared on a District teenager's Facebook page. The photographer was apparently the burglar himself.

Washington Post Metro columnist Marc Fisher tells FOX 5 his home in Upper Northwest was burglarized last Friday - either late morning or early afternoon. Soon after, Fisher says he started getting messages from friends who were noticing the strange picture on his son's wall on Facebook.

Fisher believes the thief broke into the house, stole the coat, cash and two computers. Facebook was left open on his son's laptop and Fisher assumes the thief uploaded the photo and posted it on the younger Fisher's wall.

"I think he was so intoxicated with the take and having gotten away with the burglary that he wanted to show that off and taunt the victim and perhaps taunt the police," said Fisher.

He wrote about the caper in his Wednesday column and says D.C. police have been getting calls from readers who may be able to put a name to the boasting burglar's face.

"It wouldn't be worth talking about publicly except for the fact this crook was unbelievably brazen and unbelievably stupid and put a photo of himself out there on Facebook for all the world to see with the stolen goods," Fisher explained.

the 1 thing i hate is when people steal, and if i saw some one pick pocketing or breaking and entering i would have to do somthing, i cant just sit there and let it happen, and if i was robbed i would have to track down the person who did it, chop off there hands, steal there stuff and then bury them alive, i wouldnt care if i would go to jail, i just hate them soooo much
