  • So i live on the outskirts of planet earth so i don`t always have a fresh supply of your basic modelers ABC kit. One thing that just eats me up here is the Johnsons Klear Wax deal(new/old formula)..yeah you know what i`m on about..known about the stuff for ages, but never found any, but plan on importing some from amazon to see what the big D is. My question: is this stuff meanth to be used as a finish on both enamels and acrylics? Throw me a bone here...THANKYOU!

  • @mybluebelly , yes, Johnsons Klear Wax (aka Future Floor Wax) can be used over both enamels and acrylics. Just make sure the paint is dry (at least 24 hours) before applying the Klear.

  • Can you mix acrylic and enamel paint together? I mean after applying the enamel as the first paint layer, can you put acrylic on top of it afterwards? And what do you mean by gloss/flat coat?

  • @SShmz08 , make sure the enamel paint is completely dry (> 1 week) before applying the acrylic. Test the specific paints on scrap plastic to be sure, before painting your model!

In general, paints can be glossy (shiny) or flat (dull), or somewhere in between (semi-gloss).

  • Hi great video and helpful but I have a few questions,

    First: what does drybrushing mean?

and second: I guess the gloss coat is just a clear paint but what is a flat coat?

    Thanks

  • @MityLite , drybrushing refers to dipping the brush in paint, then wiping almost all of it onto a clean surface (e.g. scrap plastic). The lightly brushing the actual part with this almost dry brush, causes paint to deposit only on the high points, creating a subtle and realistic relief effect.

Paints can be glossy (shiny) or flat (dull). Clear coat can be glossy or flat as well.

  • Nice tutorial friend! - Regards!

  • @lodhol , for basic airbrushing, a Paasche single action model H should do fine. It's an economical choice to learn on. For more complicated free-hand camoflage (e.g. WW2 Luftwaffe) a double-action brush is more suitable. Check out our website for more details.

  • @modelairplanetips what is best airbrush to buy?Can you please tell me cause I want to buy it,and I dont have any ideao, and I dont want to throw my money away.

  • @TheSeasonman1 , check out our website (link on the channel page). We cover canopies and camo in great detail.

For wheels, a fine paintbrush helps get the tire / hub separation line just perfect.
